if the callee is not in contacts and caller needs to add address, what is desired method to give the URL a name so the person knows who is calling back when callee uses the URL?  prompt right? what wording. is that prompt and link stored in contacts or just temporarily?  the user can do a list like #media - then will just get generic info back.

Notes after UX desktop and mobile Loop meetings:

* The URL should be short enough to be easily copied through text selection or to be share by SMS. This means a maximum of 8 characters to identify the call as part of the full URL
* The URL is generated on the server side

This means 64^8 possibilities so more than 281474 millions concurrent calls urls and we will be able to add characters if needed later.

RT -- Can you expand on the user story for this?  Is the idea that if a signed in user tries to call a non-FxA contact, a URL would pop up with a prompt to send that URL to the non-FxA contact by email?

If so, this is probably a necessary use case for release -- since most contacts at the beginning will likely not be FxA users.  I'm tagging this in the white board as necessary for the first release with a "?"

Yes that's exactly the idea.
The client would not be aware of which contacts have FxA accounts but the client would request the server to tell whether the contact he's trying to talk to has a FxA and is connected - in this case the client would initiate a direct call with the contact. If not the client would prompt the user to share a call-back URL with that contact by e-mail.

I am also changing the title as this not only applies to non FxA contacts but also to FxA contacts which are not connected at the time of the call attempt.

I believe bug 1048162 and others actually encompass all that's required here, hence marking as a duplicate.
