Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0
Build ID: 20160315153207
Steps to reproduce:
Whenever I set up a new 64 bit Windows system, I visit www.firefox.com to download the latest version of Firefox.
I now recognized that all the Firefox versions I ever downloaded are 32 bit versions, although I'm using 64 bit Windows versions all around.
This is a problem when it comes to downloading other programs using Firefox: Firefox is telling other websites that it's a 32 bit program. This results in the other programs being downloaded as 32 bit software, too.
Actual results:
The www.firefox.com landing page downloads a 32 bit Firefox version when visited using a 64 bit Windows systems.
Expected results:
The www.firefox.com landing page should download a 64 bit Firefox version when visited using a 64 bit Windows systems.

Yes, we are serving the 32-bit version by default, because the 64-bit version still has some issues. I guess we can change this sometime this year.

I see. Thanks for explaining this to me.
I feel, though, that the user should be informed about this current fact when downloading. I was hunting down an issue with another software when I noticed that it was the 32 bit version I had installed via Firefox download.

You can download the Firefox win 64 here if you want to try it out: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Thanks for the hint!
I did; this time. But I didn't dozens of times before.
I'm just trying to help by pinpointing the website's confusing behaviour.

I would also welcome a change in this regard.

Depends on: support-win64
I'm continuously downloading and installing the 64 bit Firefox version for more than a year now on all my machines (50+ installations). Didn't have an issues yet.
