Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:64.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/64.0
Steps to reproduce:
1. Share a link from any other app to “Add to Firefox”
2. Choose “Open in Firefox” from the dialog
Let Firefox open.
3. Click on Android’s app/activity switcher
Actual results:
The “Add to Firefox” dialog remains in the app switcher dialog.
Expected results:
The dialog should have been dismissed.
I’m seeing the same issue on Nokia 7 Plus with Android 8.1 and Android 9.0 (Android One editions), as well as the Samsung S8 running Android 8.0.

We've already had bug 1137928 for Android L, however on my phone (Android M, Moto G4 Play, 6.0.1) the situation seems a bit more confusing:
With some apps (e.g. sharing the app details page from the Play Store) I can never reproduce this.
With some apps (sharing a photo link from Google Photos) I can always reproduce this.
And with a third set of apps (K9-Mail, Google Maps), I can only reproduce this if I've got the ActivityForceNewTask Xposed module enabled (which basically sets FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK when the calling Activity is from a different app and doesn't use startActivityForResult()).
How we'd go about fixing this (keeping in mind the problems discovered in the original attempts in bug 1137928), I've got no idea, though.
