User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0

Steps to reproduce:

Viewing a video in fullscreen with a necessity to enable picture-in-picture mode right away.

Actual results:

Since there is no way, for now, to enable picture-in-picture toggle right from the fullscreen mode, users have to first exit the fullscreen mode and then toggle the picture-in-picture mode, which is an excessive step that gets annoying really quickly and discourages users either from using fullscreen mode or picture-in-picture mode or both.

Expected results:

Users should have "media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.fullscreen.enabled" option in "about:config" so they could get rid of the unnecessary step and have an immediate way to switch from fullscreen to picture-in-picture mode, if they wish so. By default this option can be set to false if the accepted policy says it should be this way.

Jared, did you notice that double-clicking on PiP video in FF 71 does not make PiP maximize any more?

Untile this "bug" about the ability to quickly switch between a small window and full-resolution fullscreen video is implemented, the double-clicking was the only way to kind of get what it is necessary. With the double-clicking-to-maximize now disabled, it all has become even less convenient than before: now you have to manually and slowly increase the size of the window by its corner to make it big.

Can you please add a media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.maximization-by-doubleclick.enabled option to "about:config" so it would be possible to bring it back?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, User Dderss. We'll be exploring additional controls to the Picture-in-Picture player window in upcoming versions of Firefox.

Confirmed as a valid enhancement based on Mike's reply.

This won't be on our radar anytime soon, unfortunately. The use case for this is fairly narrow, so I don't anticipate investment in this control unless we have unlimited resources in the future.
