User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:137.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/137.0

Steps to reproduce:

Clicked the play button on a YouTube video

Actual results:

First frame of video is displayed, but is shown to be loading. This goes on indefinitely, and the video never actually starts.

Expected results:

The video should have played normally.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Audio/Video: Playback

Thanks for the report! Could you please paste the contents of your about:support page? If you try Firefox safe mode, do you still run into the same issue? If this is new behavior that just started and is due to a change in Firefox itself, we may be able to track it down more precisely with mozregression - it'll have you test a bunch of different builds and give us the exact changes which may be causing the problem.

The "progress" marker shows [0, 17.766s) buffered, and "canplaythrough" has fired.

A profile with more information can be obtained by following the steps in Bug 1935757 comment 2.

Redirect a needinfo that is pending on an inactive user to the triage owner.
:jimm, since the bug has recent activity, could you have a look please?

The behavior under different values of the following prefs would indicate whether bug 1938056 might be causing this:
media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled
media.ffmpeg.disable-software-fallback

Depends on: 1938056
