:: Description
The EME as proposed by the W3C appears to be an anti-feature that would make a land grab on what features that the open web could add to browsers. Adding features to EME that save the content and allow the content to be looped back into the browser block such attempts.
:: Relevance
This will help preserve the right of Mozilla to innovate open web technology.
Goal: A public implementation of an EME API with features that allow the content to be saved or accessed by the users and used by distributed apps.
When: Before the W3C EME reaches Last Call.
:: Additional Information
The W3C claim that the EME is just an API, and it might only be necessary to be able support existing AV containers for this to effectively prevent the W3C EME from being a land grab.
